Capital Canberra!

I was wrong! Canberra is one of the most relaxing, friendly, foodie and art lovers’ city. Perfect refresh yourself for few days, awesome opportunity to try good food & coffee go deep in the art and chill!!

I always thought -from my two misunderstood previous experiences- Canberra has not much to offer, and I am delighted to be wrong in this case.

After I felt like, “ I think I would love to come here more frequently!” , I wanted to share our experience with food, stay and rediscovering Canberra.

Shall we?

The reason I visited Canberra was, mainly to see very exciting “Boticelli to Van Gogh” exhibition in National Gallery of Australia. I visited here for Picasso & Matisse exhibition before and because we did not have enough time, In couldn’t see Pollock’s masterpiece “Blue Poles” back then.

Yayoi Kusama’s installation “The Spirit of The Pumpkins Descended Into The Heaven” was also there this time!!!

Some of the selections of the exhibition. Caption them on my  insta #nevthetinycook

After we finished visiting the main exhibition, it was time for Pollock and Kusama!

I just adored where we stayed: Little National Hotel. It is small but everything you need is there, including kettle & coffee machine with good quality teas and coffee capsules.

It is clean, not pricy and you sleep right next to the windows, perfect for insta moments;)

There is a library, common area and a bar at the top.

I cannot tell if it is suitable for including the children because of the size of the rooms, but it is ideal for couples and individuals for sure.

And food!

I have few places to recommend you definitely, starting with a good dining “Morks”. “Morks is a contemporary Thai restaurant, awarded one hat in the Good Food Guide 2019, 2020.” says on their website.

We tried the pork bun, coconut calamari, amazing grilled corn, curry and fried ice cream.

Everything cooked very well and delicious! It was a really good experience with different textures, combination of the flavours and presentation for sure!

Breakfast. We asked locals for and they recommended “ The Cupping Room”.

I loved the coffee!

It was a busy day and I am not going to lie, did not love the food as much, but as I said it was a busy day so I would give their food another go next time.

Street Food & Sweet Tooth!

Akiba is an Asian style bar that you can hang out with friends while you are having delicious bar food & beer. Everyone we talked definitely up for it, and I would go there next time to try more food!

Another bar , Bespoke feels like entering a spaceship with full of craft beer!

We did not miss trying the beers and obviously they have a lot fans! It was packed and full of youth vibes!

And chocolate my love!

I discovered an amazing, multi-awarded artisan chocolate bar: Enigma Chocolates. They have a wide and artful collection that you can actually make your own box. Very tempting, very challenging!!

Details in the photos.

Concept stores, craft markets, any many more… Canberra will surprise everyone who take for granted to it’s potential!

Hopefully, see you soon!
